Help me choose a snowboard?
I currently own a crappy snowboard...but now im willing to pay for an upgrade.I need new boots, bindings and board. I stand about 5 foot 10 and weigh approximatly 160. I am a freestyle rider....any suggestions on what to buy?
This all really depends on your skill and likes. Never buy a board using the chin to nose method, your a tall and that board cope with you and your freestyle riding. Usually the longer the board the less likely you are to go in the park with it. So go by your weight. Next is the king of boards, directional or twin tips. Now I use both becase they have their perks. Directionals work out ok in the park but arn't really built for aerials or jibbing, there mountain boards. Now twin tips on the other hand are a park rat's tool of trade. Both ends being rounded the same makes riding switch, jibbing, and spinning much easier. So depending on what you like to ride that should effect your choise. You also said that your willing to pay for the upgrade. People usually think that the more expensive the board the better it is, not true at all. Now companys may charge more but that doesn't mean the boards are better. Usually the more expensive the board the less "pop" or flex it has. Again, my directional was very expensive but its flex it miniscule, my twin tip was half the price and it can flex extremely. One of the other people who answered talked about GNU, that is a very good brand to go for tons of different boards expecially the riders choice. Rome is also good, my twin tip is a 153 Rome Artifact. If you go for directional, DWD(Dinosaurs Will Die) a very good company also. I have the 155 Team board and it's an awesume mountain board. Any more questions bout gear feel free to ask.
