What gear do I need for snowboarding?
I have the desire to learn to snowboard, but I don't know what all the gear I need is. I know I can rent the board and the boots at the mountain, but what apparel etc. do I need?
you need WATERPROOF gloves/mittens and snowpants. mittens are warmest. You will kick yourself if you dont get the waterproof kind cuz u gotta do ur bindings and youll be falling. You need a winter jacket, goggles, hat, and ski/sport socks. dont use cotton socks or they absorb sweat then when it cools youll be FREEZING. Gross, right. A few optional things but things you will really want: wrist guards (i've seen many snowboarders, especially beginners, break their wrists), hand warmers, pain meds, and a helmet (I can't tell you how many concussions i woulda had w/o one)
You might wanna bring food too
A few things to remember:
snowboarding is hard to learn but easy to master
it'll hurt at first
when you fall back, roll with it (no concussions or killer headaches)
when you fall forward, catch yourself with your whole forearm (no hurt wrists)
if you loose controll, fall on purpose (one chick hit a tree and died when she lost controll)
It WILL get easier
