Skateboard/ Snowboard Photography?

Every once in a while I'm looking through my skateboard or snowboard magazines, and i see a picture that really interests me. Its those action pictures where the subject is moving, like a skater or snowboarder, while doing a trick, and the picture taken shows the entire trick. Here is an example:

http://snowboarding.transworld.net/files/2008/12/22/snb0908_tha_morph_r11.jpg

So how do the photographers do this type of photography, and what is it called? I have a camera with the frame-by-frame setting for action shots, and i love using it when i shoot for baseball. I can't figure out how this picture is made though.

Camera on tripod, multiple exposures of the action at 3-5 frames per second are taken.

Then it's all post processing, layering the images into one.

Unless it is *very* dark, then you strobe a flash while keeping the shutter open, and you get multiple impressions of the action in a single frame.

Thanks for looking at our snowboard action figure information.
