Are my snowboard boots too small?
Is it better to have snowboard boots that are a little too small or a little bit too big. I went out and tried on a couple pairs of Burton Hail boots. Size 9 1/2 seemed a little bit too big, but size 9 seemed to put pressure on my feet, where my feet started to get really hot after 10 minutes, also my toes touch the ends. I went ahead and bought the smaller ones hoping that they may stretch out a little. Should I return them and get the bigger size or am I ok?
Well they say that your boots should be a little snug. But if they are already uncomfortable you might be better off to go with a bigger size. Boots will "pack out" a bit after you've used them a couple of times, but in my experience, not enough to make them comfortable if they are uncomfortable. If your feet are cramping, and hurting then they are likely too tight. On the other hand you don't want them to be too big and have your heel lifting in the boot as you will lose control if your foot is doing that while you're riding.
