Flow Strike
physics of electron flow to ground and return path of Lightning?

1.when grounding a object how does the leakage current, that is, electrons flow to the ground. where is this loop closed?
the electron only flows to ground there is no return path for this so how can it flow in open circuit.
2.Lightning strikes from cloud to earth how does it go back ,i.e., what is the return path of these electrons
3.In electrostatics it states that no objects can be charged if they are connected to earth via a conductor. But if a charged rod(charged by rubbing against silk i.e., transfer of electrons) is connected to earth
how can these charges flow to earth and never come back?isnt charges are conserved? what is so special about earth that makes it accept charges or give charges to negatively or positively charged objects respectively in open loop?how is conservation of charge done here?

what concept am i missing here in open loop charge flow

yes it actually the same conception in your 3 situations. You made a very good observation however the laws of physics strive towards equilibrium example when a lighting strikes it fallows the shortest path to discharge (to the ground) the charge is NOT lost it is transferred to planet earth and earth having such a huge mass(RELATIVISTIC) the charge is abolished as it is spread allover. In isolated systems forget about charge equivalence a voltage is in fact produced as 2 points of a battery having a charge difference not equivalence one has far less electrons than the other (positive and negative respectively).and earthing is concerned with only one type of movement electrons. If you take a positively charged rod assume no electrons on it and put it in contact with the air their will be an inrush of electrons form the earth to the rod.
