What does this snake dream mean?
I dreamed that I was in a school with grass and trees in it, and there was this huge boa constrictor type snake that stretched all the way from the inside of the school to the outside of the school. And there were a lot of people outside, they were the snake's followers. I got an ax and started chopping away at the snake, trying to kill it.
Then there were a few more snakes, and after a while I started crying because I thought the snake was going to take away my free will and make me it's follower, but then I realized it couldn't control me and I killed it.
I've been having dreams with snakes in them for quite a while now.
Snakes are supposed to represent an enemy, or a enemy posing as a friend. But what I don't get is, who the enemy is? I don't know anyone. How could I figure this out? And what else could the dream mean?
Snakes can represent more than just an enemy. This is why I don't like dream books because each symbol can have a different meaning to a different person. You take the dream as a whole and break it down into parts based on the symbols.
For instance, if you were a mechanic and dream about a car, it would mean something different to you than everyone who is NOT a mechanic.
Here are some common representations for snakes. Evil, sneaky, transformation, and the phallus.
I think you are going through a transitional phase in your life. The snake is in the school so it has to do with the school and there to teach you that you are resisting the change you are going through.
The people who are the snake’s followers are all representations of your personality. (Trust me I’ve been reading dreams for almost 5 years) They are all for this transformation you are going through, but you are resisting it. Change is always uncomfortable for people because they are used to things being a certain way.
Think about your life and see if you can figure out what is changing. It could be changing schools, leaving home, a new job, taking up a new hobby, making new friends, or maybe your parents are separating or you are thinking about getting out on your own?
My advise is to just let this change happen in waking life and you won't have dreams like this. Life is always changing and so are you so don't resist it. Dreams are symbolic for what is going on in your life and they are very difficult to decipher unless you are into symbolism and know how to read between the lines. I really don't think the dream has to do with enemies.
However, I could give you an interpretation on just about everything the snake symolizes. You just have to find what resonates with you.
