What Snowboard Set-up do you Recommend for a 13 year old?
Hello all, I am interested into buying a snowboard and had a few questions. Last year I went snow boarding on a family ski trip and I enjoyed it. This year, before the trip I am determined to get a snowboard for this holiday season and I am currently going to ask my mom for:
Rome Cheaptrick, 151 in., or a Burton Bullet, 154 in. Deck
Burton Custom bindings, size Medium
and Burton Tribute boots, size 12 (I got BIG feet: 11.5 now but I will grow into these)
I know these are bottom of the line products, but this is all my family can afford. Do you think this setup will be okay for a high-novice? I really appreciate your help!
One more thing, After searching these peoducts new on ebay, I could save about 75 bucks. Should I buy these at a retailer, or take the rish and buy online?
And if you can find a better board or any equipment at all for the price, please let me know! Thanks!
Yeah...that guy above is nuts lol. You don't need all Burton. There are a ton of good companies out there. But one thing i can agree on with this guy is get Burton bindings and boots. I mean you don't need to, but they're awesome. Burton designed their bindings different from other brands. Check out where the highback (the support piece that goes up the backside of your calf) is anchored on the binding. You can see that they set it more forward than most other brands do. This gives it strength and enables the response you get from it to be sick. Also gives it awesome flexable capabilities. Burton designed its boots and bindings to co-ride with one another the best. Like it's better to have both boots and bindings from Burton since they are designed to fit eachother best. And as far as your binding size, DO NOT get a medium lol. Especially at a size twelve. You're definitely a large. Bindings in the size large are classified by boot sizes 10 and up. So a medium's really too small man. Good choice on boots though man, but check out the Burton Moto's. This year's version kinda sucks (just because the Speed Zone lacing system is only on one side) but you might like them, they're not too much more. I love the Speed Zone lacing system. So easy and hassle free. It has a very thing string going through all the eye lets, you tup on a cord with a handle and it synches the boot up. But don;t be fooled manm this string is capable of suspending a 300lbs man, so it's tough. I don't know why you said all this stuff is "bottom of the line" products, cuz even the boards tight. It's built for the park and Rome is a well respected name in the snowboarding world, right up there with Burton. They're definitely not crappy stuff, that's an awesome setup and anyone who snowboards will think so, so great choices bro and good luck out there this season.
