Is a 178 cm ski too long for a 175 lb, 6 foot 1 intermediate?
My girlfriend has bought me a pair of new 178 cm Rossignol Viper (06/07) shaped skis with Axium 110 bindings. I normally rent skis (from the prestige ranges) in around 172-174cm. Are these skis too long? Should I try to swap them for 170s?
I'm 175lb, 6 foot 1 and good intermediate skill (I'm happiest skiing blacks and reds at a good pace and I'm comfortable in icy conditions). This year I'd like to improve my technique in moguls and put down some cruising mileage.
Thanks!
Those should be fine. I am a little shorter, expert skier, on 181's.
You should grow into them as your skills progress. The only concern is that you can control them right now. If so...and I don't see why you wouldn't be able to...you should be just fine. Stick to the cruisers until you get them down, then try some crud and a few bumps.
