Why are Salmon 600 ski bindings now unsafe to use?
My neighbor gave me some skis with Salmon 600 bindings... I tried to sell them but was informed that they aren't safe to use... Are they just unsafe to adjust or to use? And why?
All ski bindings use a steel spring and a ball or cam arrangement so the tension and release points are consistent throughout the life of the binding. The spring will get weaker as it is used, the cam is usually a high density plastic that will wear as they are used. The steel ball will wear against its retention point as it is cycled and will have less tension over the cycles. Your set may be OK, but no shop will take the risk because of the insurance risk if they are bad.
