what was the motive behind the attack on US liberty?
what do you think about phil tourney's speech, who is a US liberty survivor?
Israel didn't want America to know what was going on. Not to mention Cairo was minutes away from being nuked. Israel favourite tactic, attack an ally, blame the Arabs.
@BMCR, the captain of the Liberty was not a conspiracy crank, he lost men under his command, his friends. He felt betrayed because it became obvious that it was either incredible incompetence, or deliberate firing. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY Israel mistook the Liberty. "When the Nord (surveillance aircraft) landed and its naval observer was debriefed, the ship was further identified as the USS Liberty based on its "GTR-5" markings. Many Liberty crewmen gave testimony that one of the aircraft flew so close to Liberty that its propellers rattled the deck plating of the ship, and the pilots waved to the crew of Liberty, and the crewmen waved back." Commander William McGonagle received the Medal of Honour, but his citation makes no mention of Israel, and President Johnson did not personally give it to him, in flagrant disregard for military tradition.
@arilou for the first and only time of friendly fire on American military personnel, congress WAS NOT allowed to investigate. Watch the video, these men WERE THERE. Were you?
