what are some intermediate freestyle skiing tricks?
I'm 14 and I've always done a lot of summit and back country stuff. This year my friends are encouraging me to get into freestyle skiing but I don't know where to begin. What are some good freestyle tricks that will help me get my feet wet and kind of show me the ropes?
First:
get comfortable in the air!!! Progress from small jumps to larger ones, push you comfort zone but don't do anything stupid...
Second:
get your Grabs down: Japan Air, Mute, Safety, Truck Driver, etc...
Third:
go for rotations: start with a 360's, then work on 180's landing backwards(switch), when you get used to skiing/landing switch, work on "switch" hit rotations. If you learn switch early lots of things will come more naturally later on... then move up to higher rotations (540, 720, 900 1080 etc...), and spinning unnatural if you want.
*note* always look where you want to go, your body will follow. Spot your landing and ride away.
Fourth:
now mix you grabs and rotations, safety and mute are probably the easiest to start with.
Fifth:
by now you should have good control over you body and skies in the air and you might want to throw off-axis rotations, and inverted tricks.
these are scary at first, but their cool... work on your back-flip and go from there, if you get to this level i shouldn't have to tell you what else is possible.
